NMPSPE Film Festival, Day LXVIII: The Maltese PARCC

The next two weeks culminates Hanna Skandera’s hubris as perfectly as John Huston distills Sam Spade’s in “The Maltese Falcon” (1941).  Just as Bogey receiving “the Bird” from a dying guy reveals his own true greed, the PARCC/EOC (not to mention AP) Testing nexus shows NM PED Secretary Skandera’s.  She’s gotta have that Bird.

And, as Mary Astor says in my single favorite line from a singularly fabulous film, “Sam, you’re hurting me.”

Unfortunately, that line isn’t quite as famous as some other Sam Spade quips and I can’t find the precise clip.  Until I do, take the following, or, better yet, just see the whole film.  PARCC is “the Bird” and “experts” are killing children’s imaginations to get it.
